Wall-mounted night vision binoculars are directed towards a black cave-like wall painting in the corner of the group exhibition.  A black gnome figurine is situated in front of the “cave”.  Through the night-vision binoculars, the viewer sees a drawing of a beast that appears to be skewing the head of the gnome with a stick. ABOVE IMAGE: (a) view through military nightvision binoculars (b) view of room (normal) in which Grendel is located in the far left corner as indicated by the white circular mark.

Nightvision Photos: The black “dot” painted on the gnome’s head coincides with the predetermined position of wall-mounted  military binoculars.  Figure (a) shows a side view of the figurine in which it is clear that the black painted shape is clearly not circular.  Figure (b) shows a view of the figurine as seen through the binoculars.
